HOME: dwell studio
Dwell Studio has some fantastic furniture, textiles + home accessories. I'm archiving these treasures for my future home which, at this point, only exists in my head and on my blog.

TRAVEL: ia and ne
Packing my little bag for a roadtrip this weekend. I'm almost certain that the items pictured go everywhere with me and this weekend is no exception. First stop: Nebraska. Second stop: Iowa. Looking forward to quality car time, catching up with great friends, and a concert by my favorite band. I'm going to try to avoid acting like "that girl" at the concert, but no guarantees.

PHOTO the glow
"The hardest part about being a mom is not laughing when she does something really bad." I love this quote by Lauren Moffatt, one designer featured on The Glow. I fell in love with this website when I saw the beautiful photographs of [adorable + fashionable] moms in creative careers. Moms are great, aren't they?

Temperature's hovering around 9 degrees and I've got one thing on my mind: SPRING. And this pretty photo by Kimberly Ross.

WORK: logo(s)
Long story short - I work for a medical nonprofit organization that holds (as mentioned in my city by the bay entry) an annual conference for physicians in the fall. Each meeting and all of its materials, and there are many, have a unique identity + logo and since I'm new to the job, this was my first go at branding the entire upcoming conference. In December, I presented two options to my bosses... Yikes. Above you'll see the first identity I presented - this system was the one they chose for the 2012 meeting. And much to my relief, they liked the second option as well and plan to use it for the 2013 meeting. Venue and location photos courtesy of the JW Marriott Grande Lakes.

2012: my year of color
If you know me or my closet, you know that I don't stray too far from neutrals. My closet is happiest when my non-colors are color-coordinated with the occasional cobalt, coral, or sea foam hues at the far edges - a safe but accessible distance. Some say boring, I say practical. Thus, I have declared 2012 my Year of Color. To make sure everyone has the proper color guidance in the new year, I'd like to share PANTONE's top colors for 2012 and shown above is the Color of the Year Tangerine Tango or PANTONE 17-1463 and this beautiful [pricey] tory burch clutch. Best wishes for your new year (of color).

TRAVEL: city by the bay
I had the opportunity to travel to San Francisco, CA, for a business trip back in September. The non-profit organization I work for held a week-long conference in the City By the Bay so this Iowa girl took her first trip to California. The vast majority of my week was spent inside the conference venue but, luckily, I was able to sneak out for a few photo ops and take a morning trip to the Fisherman's Wharf.

ME: first things second
Graphic designer, magazine fanatic, midwestern gal, reading enthusiast, sarcasm extraordinaire. Also, I do love those Iowa State Cyclones. The image above is as close as it gets to jamming all of those things into one image. This gem was one of my first attempts at my own photo shoot... With my little point-and-shoot camera in hand, I hung my own dresses between a couple of trees on ISU's campus with the end goal of a magazine cover in mind.
DEBUT: better late than never
