: jotters

I love paper, stationery, writing utensils, office supplies, sticky notes, and the list goes on... I am never without a little notebook because I am forever writing notes, ideas, and lists for myself. What better way to write in style than these adorable jotters and notebooks?! I also found a few sites with fun customizable options, which I'll share later.

WORK: mind padlock

These images are from a project I did in a Methodology class last spring. Methods was one of the best classes I've ever taken. So... Why "mind padlock"? (1) I drew those 2 words out of a hat. That's how everyone got their project content for this one. (2) I researched tons of "graphic representations" of those words. (3) I printed all of my findings onto transparency paper and collaged them. (4) I scanned all of my collages into the computer and proceeded with color from there. The size/arrangements/colors made for a crazy series of CD covers or posters.

PHOTO: polka-dots

Who doesn't love a clever photo? And who doesn't love polka dots? No one I know. These images combine both.

WORK: packaging

This recyclable universal packaging system by Patrick Sung is ingenious! The package may look like a cardboard blob but the design of these packaging "sheets" avoid wasted materials and space. Check out this website for all the details.

HOME: anthropologie

I'm a sucker for the details and feminine touch of Anthropologie's home items. Sharing a few of my favorites - especially the top image.

WORK: catalog living

Nerding out a little (read a lot) today. Here's the deal - sometimes designers/decorators ridiculously and impractically prop magazine sets... I've seen it happen. Sure, some random thing might match the scheme or style but it doesn't make any sense to include in the photo shoot. When I was interning for a publishing company, my editor = one of my most favorite people in the world, introduced me to this hilarious website called Catalog Living. Basically, someone had the brilliant idea to create an imaginary family who lives in the rooms of home catalogs. Gary and Elaine are the lucky couple who find the best and worst in catalog living.

TRAVEL: baconfest eve

I am heading to Iowa for a weekend of bacon, Pabst, and lots of great friends. Those things would make any weekend great but this particular weekend will surpass the rest and I'm hoping to be both mentally and physically prepared for this blessed event... Baconfest. Hopefully pictures to come. Merry Baconfest Eve to all!

WORK: public school posters

To make a long story short, these 4 posters were hanging up in a-friend-of-a-friend's living room. When I spotted them, I knew my walls needed these posters, too. This led to a frantic but successful Google search. And being the lucky gal that I am, I received the top poster as a Christmas gift and look forward to expanding this little collection.

HOME + PHOTO: an afternoon with...

An Afternoon With... features homeowners and their impeccably arranged and decorated homes. The photos above are from Patrick Ryan's home - just one of my top picks from this site.. so far. I'm sure you'll get to see more. Lucky you.

I hope each of you finds whatever, or whoever, it is you're looking for. Maybe sooner or maybe later, but all in good time. Happy February 14th!

Irene Suchocki has some seriously awesome photographs which I found on her blog Eye Poetry. I love the hazy/dreamy/surreal quality that they have and also the sharp focus and clarity of the images.

This is exactly how I feel as I wait patiently (or impatiently) for my weekend visitors to arrive! I am not traveling but a handful of friends are coming to see me - Thank goodness for another Friday and weekend of fun guests!

2012 + WORK: quote

Remember these words to live by. I love this quote by Emily Ley. Happy Wednesday.

HOME: west elm

West Elm is another great source for fun home + textile items. All-in-all, it's pretty commercial so this isn't your greatest source for vintage or one-of-a-kind pieces - it is, however, full of fun accents and great basics.

HOME: inspiration wall

Everyone can use a little inspiration on a Monday. I love stumbling upon unique "inspiration walls" in homes and studio spaces; I can appreciate organized chaos. I had a big inspiration board in my room growing up and can't wait for the day I have my own studio space with a display similar to these.

2012: finally friday

...And we finally made it to Friday. It's been one of those character-building, kill 'em with kindness, grin-and-bear-it weeks. Remember: pick your battles, laugh it off, and be kind.
